PIEAS MS Fellowship Commonly Asked Questions about test and interview.

PIEAS MS Fellowship Commonly Asked Questions about test and interview.

There are few major problems from which not only Pakistan is suffering but they are almost problems of the every country. Few of them are listed below.

·       Unemployment

·       Environmental conditions

·       Energy consumption

·       Hunger, poverty

·       Diseases and health conditions

So, when fresh graduates leave the medical or engineering college there can be categorized as

·       Those who have enough good grades to be eligible to apply in every position announced.

·       Those who do not have enough good grades to meet the threshold level of most of the positions announced in Pakistan.

Circumstances are a bit different for both of them. Those who do not have enough good grades just try to get job. They do not bother which field or department is best suitable for them as a profession. Indirectly, they are not given enough options to choose. So, most of the time, their aim is clear i-e to get a job and to get marry soon. J

While the graduates who earned good grades try to make choices and try to choose the carrier best suitable for them. This article is especially written for those. Most of the queries asked by them are listed below. We‘ll try to answer one by one in different post. This article is more about preparing yourself mentally for the preparation of PIEAS MS fellowship wither as an Engineer, Doctor, Mathematician or Physicist. Your comments and discussion ‘ll help others to make good decision and broader their vision.

1.     What is the worth of PIEAS MS Fellowship in engineering or medical field?

2.     Choosing PIEAS MS Fellowship is not like limiting our carrier?

3.     How many limitations are there in job after completing the PIEAS MS fellowship training or KINPO postgraduate Training?

4.     What is the worth of doing MS from PIEAS as compared to going for abroad?

5.     Can someone do other post-graduation after PIEAS MS Program?

6.     Are doctors are allowed to do practice in their private places or clinics after MS Fellowship program?

Series of article related to this topic will be posted soon.

  • Time allowed is 100 Mints

  • Three compulsory portions are of 70 Questions are:
    1. Mathematics (30 MCQs)
    2. Physics (30 MCQs)
    3. English (10 MCQs)

  • The candidate will choose either Chemistry or Statistics or Computer Science for the remaining 30 MCQs. Kindly note that Chemistry is compulsory for candidates with Pre-Engineering or DAE backgrounds. The students of ICS will choose Computer Science. The students of ICOM will choose Statistics

  • There are four versions of the Entry Test. The numbering of each paper id different from other. (means cheating is NOT possible)

  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Statistics questions have been set from the syllabus of F.Sc (Intermediate). Efforts have been made to set the questions from those topics of F.Sc (Intermediate) that are common to 'A' level British System syllabus.

  • The 10 questions of English portion have 5 questions of English comprehension and 5 questions of Synonyms. In English comprehension, the candidates are given a paragraph to read and answer related questions. (This is an easy portion)

The purpose of the Entry Test is to check the competency/skill level attained by the candidates during the Intermediate level studies.

MCAT preperation Guide Entrance exame (Chemistry portion)

Important Chemistry Topics for Punjab MCAT

Punjab MCAT has a total of 220 MCQs from the selected topics of Punjab Text Book Board Syllabus for FSc. Chemistry section has a total of 58 MCQs and some topics are given more weight-age in the MCAT as compared to the others. Although we recommend students to thoroughly prepare all topics listed in the Punjab MCAT syllabus, here are a few suggestions on the important Chemistry topics.

Chemistry section is further classified into three sub-sections.

  • Organic Chemistry – 30 MCQs
  • Physical Chemistry – 18 MCQs
  • Inorganic Chemistry – 10 MCQs
We shall discuss all three in the order of importance.

Organic Chemistry:
Amongst the three chemistry sections, organic chemistry is given the highest weight-age in the Punjab MCAT with 30 out of total 58 chemistry MCQs. This means that organic chemistry alone represent more than 50% of the Punjab MCAT chemistry section. Our recommendation would be to prepare Organic chemistry first followed by physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry.
The most important Chemistry topics for Punjab MCAT are Macromolecules (6 MCQs), Amino acids (6 MCQs) and Alcohols & Phenols (3 MCQs). These three topics represent half of the organic chemistry section of Punjab MCAT. Spend good time on preparing these three chapters.
Other well represented topics are Aldehydes & Ketones (3 MCQs) and Carboxylic Acids (3 MCQs).
All these topics should also be time savers for you during the test. These MCQs do not require calculations and can be done pretty quickly.

Physical Chemistry:
All topics of physical chemistry are given equal weightage in the Punjab MCAT with each topic having 2 MCQs. So it is difficult to make a choice between important and unimportant physical chemistry chapters.
Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Chemical Equilibrium tend to be most difficult and lengthy chapters in physical chemistry.

Inorganic Chemistry:
Inorganic chemistry has a total of 10 MCQs with four MCQs on the following topics,

Manufacture of Ammonia by Haber process
Preparation of Nitric acid and nitrogenous fertilizers
Manufacture of Sulphuric acid by contact method
Presence of Suphur dioxide in the atmosphere which causes acid rain
Start preparing your inorganic section by these four topics. If you are hard pressed on time and must leave some topics for your MCAT preparation, you may leave rest of the Inorganic chemistry topics. However, the Punjab MCAT is very competitive and we do not recommend leaving any topic in your test preparation.
Inorganic chemistry section is also a time saver for you. You can answer these questions very quickly, giving you time for the MCQs that may require calculations i.e physics and physical chemistry.

This is well written and most precise guide line for the preperation of Entry test in Pakistan to get admission in Engineering or medical. I hope guys trying for PIEAS BSc Fellowship or PIEAS MS Fellowship found this article helpful for them too.
Good luck to all applicants of PIEAS BSc Fellowship, PIEAS MS Fellowship, Medical and Engineering.
