ENTRY TEST TIPS

-In ECAT we have one minute for every one question , So try to save time from English and Chemistry Portion and spend it on Maths and Physics
-ECAT is designed in such a way that no student can have 400/400. For that purpose there are 8-6 Questions which cannot be answered in given time. What you have to do is to identify those questions and left them for spare time. 
Or in other case if you spend much time for these type of tricky questions , you will get short of time.
Majority of Such Questions usually found in Maths Portion
-Every Questions carries equal marks , so a student who attempted 50 easy questions will be at advantage from the student who attempted 20 difficult most questions.
-In some questions you don't have to tick the right option, but you are supposed to tick on the most suitable answer
-In difficult questions , try to solve by eliminating the options.In this way by eliminating all wrong options you will get the right answer
-Your Thinking should be like " If I cant answer a Question , it means its a difficult question and will not be answered by other students as well " 
It will give you much confidence
-ECAT is all about managing your time , your management of where to spend time , how much to spend and when to spend
-Marking of Entry Test Answer Sheet: Correct Answer: 4 marks, Wrong Answer: -1 mark. No answer: 0
marks. This means that if a candidate has 40 correct answers, 40 wrong answers and 20 blanks (no answers),
he/she would earn the following marks:
40 x 4 + 40 x (-1) + 20 x (0) = 160 – 40 + 0= 120 marks out of maximum 400.
-The question paper will have FOUR versions. All versions will have the same questions, but the subjects,
questions and answer choices would all be randomly placed. One version may have English as the first subject
(that is, question numbers 1 to 10) and Mathematics as the second (that is, question numbers 11 to 40). The
other version may have Physics as the first subject (that is, question numbers 1 to 30) and so on. Each version
would have a separate answer sheet and candidates shall mark the answer sheet provided with their version.
Similarly the correct answer may be Choice (A) for a certain question in one version and the same question
would have the correct answer as, say choice (D) in another version
-The answer sheet will have a carbon copy sheet. In most of the cases, the carbon copy sheet becomes
detached from the answer sheet. DO NOT staple it with the answer sheet. You may fill the carbon copy by
hand separately for your record after finishing your test.
-Candidates are advised NOT to carry the following items with them:
(a) Mobile Phone; (b) Calculator; (c) any helping material; (d) Handbags; (e) Staplers.
-Candidates MUST carry the following items ONLY:
(a) Photo identification like CNIC, Matriculation or first year certificate, passport or a domicile
certificate accompanied with a Computerized "B" form; (b) Admit Card (Computerized or Issued by the
Center); (c) Clean Clip Board ; (d) Black ball pen .
-Entry test is a pre-requisite for applying to UET Lahore or its affiliated colleges. Other public sector
institutions like Punjab University, UET Taxila, BZU Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur and some
private institutions also require Combined Entry Test conducted by UET Lahore as a pre-requisite.
- Still two days are left in ECAT , try to solve past papers and sample papers with proper time management

"There are 80000 students attempting entry test each year, though failure for some is inevitable, but Today I want to tell you about five common mistakes students so while they attempt for the test, If you avoid these you would get a much more better chance of getting good scores in upcoming Entry Tests.
I have been helping students for more than an year now, I have talked to thousands of students, I get Questions from them on e-mails, facebook, entry test class. How we can we score well in upcoming ECAT, MCAT and NET ? what should we do to get good marks? Today I want to give you 5 things to remember.
1-Never Read the Books:
Yes never read the Books, full of thousands of MCQs. I still remember when I gave my test two years back I hardly read a book like that. Cramping questions is never going to work. You should have thorough understanding of your proper Course Books. Through out your preparation they are going to give you good understanding of subject.
2-Keep your fears at home:
You are hear to fight, you are hear to succeed, Imagine a solider out with fear of dying, he will die on first step.So It is better to keep all your fears at home, while you even think about giving a university admission test such as MCAT.
3-Sleep well and eat well:
Jokes a part but I have seen fools which just read like, they live to read, though you should read to live. There is no need of anything extra then proper day to day work. Though last 20 days are not included in that. Properly rested mind is more prepared to grasp hard concepts.
4-Don't run like fools:
When I attempted the Test I just floated all the time, from one academy to the other, from one test session to the next,and at the end I just sat home for 20 days, never went anywhere and probably today I am in K.E because of those 20 days, though My Lord always helped me through out.
5- Al-Ta-Pete ( Aim High):
Al-ta-pete is the Tag line of my university (KEMU Lahore) . I come to know that on my first day in K.E. I am telling you this now, Always remember this Al-Ta-Pete Aim as high as you can. Look for a 92% and you will end up in K.E, if it goes right and if it doesn't you will end up 87% that will certainly guarantee you a seat.

Entry test is not as difficult as its fear makes it. Getting out of this fear and concentrating on your Course books will help you out.

Important Chemistry Topics for Punjab MCAT

 

Punjab MCAT has a total of 220 MCQs from the selected topics of Punjab Text Book Board Syllabus for FSc. Chemistry section has a total of 58 MCQs and some topics are given more weight-age in the MCAT as compared to the others. Although we recommend students to thoroughly prepare all topics listed in the Punjab MCAT syllabus, here are a few suggestions on the important Chemistry topics.

Chemistry section is further classified into three sub-sections.

• Organic Chemistry – 30 MCQs
• Physical Chemistry – 18 MCQs
• Inorganic Chemistry – 10 MCQs

We shall discuss all three in the order of importance. 

Organic Chemistry:
Amongst the three chemistry sections, organic chemistry is given the highest weight-age in the Punjab MCAT with 30 out of total 58 chemistry MCQs. This means that organic chemistry alone represent more than 50% of the Punjab MCAT chemistry section. Our recommendation would be to prepare Organic chemistry first followed by physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry.
The most important Chemistry topics for Punjab MCAT are Macromolecules (6 MCQs), Amino acids (6 MCQs) and Alcohols & Phenols (3 MCQs). These three topics represent half of the organic chemistry section of Punjab MCAT. Spend good time on preparing these three chapters.
Other well represented topics are Aldehydes & Ketones (3 MCQs) and Carboxylic Acids (3 MCQs).
All these topics should also be time savers for you during the test. These MCQs do not require calculations and can be done pretty quickly. 

Physical Chemistry:
All topics of physical chemistry are given equal weightage in the Punjab MCAT with each topic having 2 MCQs. So it is difficult to make a choice between important and unimportant physical chemistry chapters.
Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Chemical Equilibrium tend to be most difficult and lengthy chapters in physical chemistry. 

Inorganic Chemistry:
Inorganic chemistry has a total of 10 MCQs with four MCQs on the following topics,

Manufacture of Ammonia by Haber process
Preparation of Nitric acid and nitrogenous fertilizers
Manufacture of Sulphuric acid by contact method
Presence of Suphur dioxide in the atmosphere which causes acid rain
Start preparing your inorganic section by these four topics. If you are hard pressed on time and must leave some topics for your MCAT preparation, you may leave rest of the Inorganic chemistry topics. However, the Punjab MCAT is very competitive and we do not recommend leaving any topic in your test preparation.
Inorganic chemistry section is also a time saver for you. You can answer these questions very quickly, giving you time for the MCQs that may require calculations i.e physics and physical chemistry.
